Ukiyo

2026 Tokyo Kosei Wind Orchestra Concert in Taiwan | “Ukiyo”

Ukiyo does not convey a concrete story; rather, it is a musical observation of existence, order, and emotion. It depicts the flux, conflicts, and fleeting moments of contemplation in the human experience. How individuals perceive the world and themselves amidst the hustle and bustle serves as the core proposition of this performance.

The concert opens with works rich in dramatic tension and satirical color, guiding the audience through urban rhythms, collective human emotions, and theatrical intensity. Gradually, the music detaches from concrete narrative, shifting toward symbolism and philosophical reflection allowing sound to become another way of observing the world.

This performance features the Tokyo Kosei Wind Orchestra, alongside guest French horn soloist Kuan-Hao Chen. Within the highly collective soundscape of the wind orchestra, individual voices can be clearly heard, adding a more three-dimensional dimension to the role of the “individual” within the group.
